More things you might not know about jillandkate…

Two questions from someone who didn’t leave their name…

What is your favorite episode of Gilmore Girls and your favorite character? (it has to be Loralie btw) πŸ™‚

Of course our favorite character is Lorelai!

Jill’s favorite episode is “Raincoats and Recipes” in season 4. (Yes, I had to look that up…I didn’t know the title by heart.) I am not going to give away what happens for anyone who has yet to experience the magic of GG.

Kate’s favorite episode is: Ooohhh…I don’t know if I have a favorite but I like the one where Lorelai calls her mom and pretends to leave a voicemail when her mom is actually on the phone…it’s pretty funny.

Next question from another no-namer:

Are you still going to be touring with Kelly in 2010?

Yup and we are excited to kick off the European tour in less than 2 weeks…we’ve never been to Ireland before so can’t wait to start the tour in Dublin! Less than 2 weeks people…less than 2 weeks!!!!!!

From Melissa:

1) Jill, are you ever going to share chords to y’alls songs with us? Covering your stuff would be so much easier! πŸ˜‰

I didn’t know this was a request…I’ll see what I can do! πŸ™‚

2) When you write a song, do you have a certain process? Do you write lyrics & melody first or the music? Or vice versa? OR…does it just depend?

It totally depends, but I’d say most of the time for us it starts with a lyric idea. Then we usually pick up the guitar or sit at the piano and build it from there. Then again, sometimes we’ll have a whole song idea with no lyrics. You never can tell how a song will be written. That’s what makes it so exciting.

Natalia from Poland asks:

1) I know you guys visit a lot of European countries but you’ve never been to Poland ( my beautiful country πŸ™‚ So my question isΒ  what comes to your mind when you think of Poland? Do you have anyΒ  associations with this country? And we have great vodka here so you should come haha!

Well, now you have us thinking of Vodka when we think of Poland…haha…anyway…hmm…when I think of Poland, I think of long last names that end in ‘ski’ πŸ™‚ Maybe we’ll make it to Poland sometime and make some Polish memories…and maybe they will include Polish vodka.

2) Which member of KC’s band do you find the most attractive ? Β And I know they all have wives and girlfriends but it’s just a question:) So please tell us:) They are all pretty hot so I guess that would be a hard decision to make:)

Oh, they’re all so handsome and charming, how could we choose? πŸ™‚

From Linda:

Now that you live in Nashville… music city, do you find yourself any more inspired?

Yes. Nashville is amazing. There are crazy talented people here and on any given night you can see inspiring shows all over town. What a great place to live. Love, love, love Nashville.

From Erin:

I’m feening!!! I’m stuck on a stupid island and nobody ever comes to Hawaii! Will you guys ever make an appearence on Oahu?

Oh my gosh…can we PLEASE come to Hawaii? We LOVE Hawaii and feel as strongly as you do about making an appearance there. Let’s make that happen, okay? Okay.

Anakellya asks:

Jill and Kate, are you morning or night people? (:

Night night night night night. πŸ™‚

Do you ever get emotional when singing a song that you’ve written that’s really personal? Does it ever bring you back to that moment and to how you were feeling?

Yeah, definitely. For instance, everytime we play East Coast Bound, I miss home and the Atlantic ocean. πŸ™‚ -j

From Cate:

Where can u purchase cheap car insurance??? Lol only joking! My actual question has much more standing and importance…when you’s are in Dublin have you’s a drinking hole sorted for before or after the show!? Just making sure that you get a proper impression of what life is like in the green isle when you come in Feburary!

Well, we’ve heard that 15 minutes can save you 15% or more on your car insurance at GEICO! Just kidding. We don’t know any of the cool drinking holes in Dublin, so give us the scoop won’t you? We are very excited about Ireland…have we mentioned that?

From Jamie:

Can I sell merch at your next show pretty please with cherries on top? And did my open mic attempt make you cry with how awful it was? πŸ™‚

Haha, with cherries on top? Well you must really want to then. Haha. Your open mic was fun…as they all were! Everyone who did it was so brave…I don’t think any of us would have been that brave. Kudos.

Noelle from Vegas asks:

1.) What songs are on your iPods that you would be embarassed for people to know you have?

Well, I’m not necessarily embarrassed of this, but it’s something that I definitely get made fun of for…I have a few Hanson albums on my iPod. You can laugh if you must. πŸ™‚ -jill

I am embarrassed that I own the Pussycat Dolls song “Beep”. It’s the only song I own from their wide catalogue of though-provoking songs–I hate the lyrics but for some reason it found it’s way into my iTunes collection and I haven’t deleted it yet. Hmmm… -kate

2.) Are you ladies going to perform in Vegas at some point? Because I know I’d be front and center if you ever do πŸ™‚

Did you not hear that we are opening a new J&K Cirque de Soleil show in Vegas this year? Just kidding…if we ever perform in Vegas, we’ll let ya know.

3.) If you had the opportunity to have a Β deep conversation with someone about anything, who would it be and what do you think you would talk about? (It can be someone dead it alive)

For me it would be my great grandmother. She died when I was 11, but I have great memories of her and would love to pick her brain about my family history, what life was like for her in the 1900’s and just have a cup of coffee with her now that I’m grown up. -jill

I’d want to talk to Bono when he was 20. -k

From Jenna:

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Jill: Invisibility.

Kate: Definitely SuperGirl. Like Phoebe.

From Monica:

What type of students were youΒ in school? What kind of activities did you participate in?

Jill: Well, I did alright in school, but I have no memory of doing homework ever. I don’t know how I pulled that off…or maybe I just blocked it out, but I literally cannot EVER remember doing homework. I did well in English and languages, but was absolutely HORRIBLE in math and science. I hated them…Can you say right-brained?Β Also, I skipped a LOT of classes in college. Nap-time was so much more interesting to me. πŸ™‚ But don’t tell your parents I told you that. Stay in school and study hard! (haha) But don’t forget to enjoy life and not take school TOO seriously.

Kate: I was a pretty good student I guess…I definitely enjoyed the social aspect of it all a bit more than the studying part…haha…I went to school on 3 different continents & one island. Yup. True story.

Which song of yours are you most proud of? And which is your favorite to sing live?

I don’t know if I’m most proud of any song in particular–they all mean something different to me. I’m assuming it’s like parenting…you can’t pick your favorite kid. Haha…well at least you’re not supposed to πŸ™‚ My favorite song to sing live would probably be Finding My Own Way. -k

Ditto what Kate said on the first part…and my favorite song to sing live is probably either East Coast Bound or You Never Know.

Do you have any fears or phobias?

Kate: I HATE birds. Don’t ask me why but I HATE birds. My phobia is being surrounded by birds. I HATE birds. And small spaces or heights.

Jill: I have a phobia of being around Kate WHEN she’s surrounded by birds. You people have NO idea.

Have any of thoseΒ hair ties left, Jill?Β Haha

I do, actually! Thanks for those…they have lasted a long time…I actually just got to the second pack!

Yay! You answered my questions! I love you even more for that πŸ™‚ it’s so fun reading these q&a’s. I can’t wait to read more of them πŸ™‚

  2. Jacinta Says:

The Kate/birds thing made me laugh. At least they have pooped on you, Kate…not yet.

  3. Pam Says:

-my first (and only) time to Dublin was Xmas ’08. it sucked that there weren’t many things open because of the holiday, but the bars were HOPPING. i suggest going on a pub crawl while you’re there. you can either see musicians or poets (i saw musicians) and they take you to 2 or 3 bars, where you listen to them perform inside while drinking. (major run-on, i apologize haha)
-i have plenty of Hanson…whooo being a 90s kid! and i have Beep too. i actually have the whole album but i PROMISE i didn’t pay for it!
-Kate, you were Superwoman! remember your halloween costume?
-“Jill: I have a phobia of being around Kate WHEN she’s surrounded by birds. You people have NO idea.” —-HAHAHA that’s like when i’m around throw up. oh my god, i FREAK.

  4. Elaine Says:

Well I’ve already told Ric this, but if you guys want a good way to hit all the Dublin sight-seeing stuff, you should get the Hop-on Hop-off bus tours. They bring you to everything major and you can just get off and take ages at any spot, then catch the next bus when you’re done. Plus you usually get a driver chatting and spouting Blarney throughout :). I took a friend on it in March & it was great craic (Irish for fun LOL, pronounced ‘crack’)

  5. Monica Says:

“Jill: I have a phobia of being around Kate WHEN she’s surrounded by birds. You people have NO idea.”
    This definitely cracked me up.
But I hear you, Kate. I used to have a crazy fear of birds. Though, one day I had a brave moment where I walked into the bird room (where most birds are out of cages) of this pet store..and actually held a bird. I’m still crazy nervous around them, though.

Glad I could help with your hair-tie needs, Jill! πŸ˜€

  6. Skye Says:

I have a fear of birds as well… I am convinced that they are going to figure out that I am scared of them and they unite and attack me :). Not a fan, I am with you there.

  7. Erin Says:

My friend is afraid of birds too Kate. We were waiting at the bus stop shelter thing and a pigeon strolled in. She freaked out, the bird freaked out and it flew into the side of the bus shelter trying to get out. It was hilarious.

Jill, I have the entire Middle of Nowhere Hanson album. You are not alone. A Minute Without You is a great song. You can’t top Mmmbop either. Takes me back to fourth grade that’s for sure.

Love the answers ladies. I can’t wait for the make-up song on the 17.

  8. Melissa Says:

WOO! haha Jamie and I can stop shunning y’all now =]. Right, Jamie? LOL

Thanks for answering my questions. And Jill, a lot of us want guitar chords! So if you ever get a minute to post a song or two, that would be so awesome!

    • Jacinta Says:

AND lyrics to “Another Friend” would be cool. (sorry melissa – thought I’d use the opportunity to throw that in there just in case)

    • Jamie Says:

No comment πŸ˜‰ Good thing j&k saved the sales day. Almost went with selling the black tar heroin. Haha!

  9. Jamie Says:

You answered my question. Yeaaahhhhh!!! Thanks πŸ™‚ you made me night!

  10. carolfritz Says:

I attempted to Google the Lorelai voicemail episode because I’ve never seen it, and you would NOT believe how many episode storylines have to do with voicemails. LOL
Jill, I’m with you about Hanson. My best friend forced me to go to their concert two years ago, and they were PHENOMENAL live. I absolutely LOVE their song “Penny and Me”.
And Kate, you would’ve sh*t bricks at my house a couple Christmases ago. lol. My mom heard a really loud noise coming from our porch while we were eating breakfast, so she opened the door, and a bird flew right into the house! It sat on the Christmas tree and refused to go back outside for a good while. haha.

  11. Selena Says:

    More Q&A….score! I’ve missed this.

Kate, do yourself a favor, and never watch Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds!” Jill, do yourself a favor, and never let Kate watch it! Lol!

  12. nataliana3 Says:

you have answered my 3 questions! wooohooo! that’s awesome:) and I have to just clarify something…we do have great vodka in Poland but of course my country is not just about it:) just so you know:) and you must come here and see what other great things we have here!

  13. Nina Says:

well that chords thing would be really COOL!
i tried to figure out some of them but since jill is kick a$$ guitar player i mess them up a lot!

    thx for sharing πŸ™‚

    xox

  14. Erin Says:

Yay thanks j&k for answering my question! Yeah let’s definitely start working on u guys coming to Hawaii!!

  15. BostonHolly Says:

LOL at the Pussycat Doll comment…I feel like my IQ drops 10 points every time I actually listen to the words…

Oh and I majored in “napping” in college and I turned out just fine. It’s all about priorities.

  16. khitam Says:

Thanks for another fun blog. It has kept me company in this god awful chemistry class

  17. Olwen Says:

Yay I’m exciited that ya’ll are excited for Ireland I’m counting my days for this show…And Kate just to make you jealous when my Mom was 20 and before U2 were ever U2 she lived in the flat below Bono and he used to come down to her for cups of tea lol

  18. Jennifer Says:

So making Kate watch Hitchcock’s “The Birds” would be a deffinately no no then I’m guessing it would be a bit like torture.
You’d have freaked out when I went to London and around 250 Birds flew at me and my girl guides because one of them thought it would be smart to throw their sandwiches to them….but it only took one girl to run at them for them all to fly away.

Under two weeks until Manchester eeeeep! Question is what can we do this year that is cooler than side ponytails? hmmm
Might do it this year too just because this year my hair is half the length so I won’t whip people with it every time I turn my damn head!!

  19. Mary B Says:

All I can say is… I to have hanson on my iPhone lol ahh the classics mmmbop lol ok and the phobias… Hilarious Jill I literally lolled and made myself look stupid in the break room!!!

    I LOVE Q&As!!!! Fun times

  20. Linda Says:

Thanks for answering my Nashville question. It seems like a great city to live in, and never a dull moment music wise. It’s good to know it inspires you as well….more music πŸ˜€

LMFAO at about being around Kate when she’s around birds. πŸ˜€ I’m sorry Kate, I’m sure it’s not funny to you, but the visual is hilarious.

  21. Jaclyn Says:

    Woohoo, more questions/answers! πŸ™‚

“Jill: I have a phobia of being around Kate WHEN she’s surrounded by birds. You people have NO idea.” – L.M.A.O.

My grandma actually has a major phobia of birds and feathers in general…one time, when I was doing an arts and crafts project at their house, I had some colored feathers that I was gluing to something and my grandma FREAKED OUT….it was SO funny.

“If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? Jill: Invisibility.” – sometimes I feel like I already have that superpower, lol.

Also lol’d at the Hanson mention…I own 4 of their albums, but they have not made their way onto my ipod, haha…I LOVED them when I was in 4th grade….Middle of Nowhere was actually the first cd I ever owned :-P. I ditched them for Nsync in 5th grade though.

  22. kevin Says:

where do your post your questions? i have many.

  23. Riana Says:

Omg,jill’s phobia of being around Kate surrounded by birds…really funny. Do u think we can get to see a picture of two of that moment?? Jk. Love u guys. Keeponrockin’

  24. Stephanie Says:

Glad you girls are back and safe! Have family in Dublin (I live in Jersey!) anywho go to a bar called Ri-Ra, pretty cool place. Let me know if you go there! I’ve been attacked by ducks once after I ran out of bread that I was feeding them! Pretty scary

  25. Monica Says:

AH. So I just double checked to see which episode was Raincoats and Recipes… gaklfjalskdjfij MY FAVORITE.

  26. anakellya Says:

you guys spoil me, answering my questions πŸ™‚ thank you! and the phobias one, had me in about 1,000 fits of laughter :L love you two! can’t wait til you bring the humour and talent across the pond next week!
    see yaaa soon πŸ™‚
    xxxxxxxxxx

  27. lu-lu Says:

Really cant wait to see you all in Dublin. Im counting down the days!! πŸ˜€ Have to drive down from Belfast but itll be worth it (haha sounds like that shampoo advert .. because your worth it) sorry just kinda talked on there πŸ™‚ But really cant wait!!!!

Oh the Temple Bar Area is amazing for drinks and a bit of craic. Its an area full of nightlife/bars. Youll also probably meet some random people. πŸ™‚ It shouldnt be that far away from where the concert is. πŸ™‚ hope thats helpful! (“,)

  28. Lauren 'Elle' Says:

Haha i hate birds too! You never know if they’re going to fly into you or what they’re going to do.

  29. Tanisha Says:

haha my mom is terrified of birds and I don’t exactly like them either but I’m not as bad as she is. but I definitely get why you hate them. I also hate small spaces, absolutely FREAK out. I mean I broke my arm when I was seven and didn’t shed a tear, I was actually laughing hysterically, probably from shock, and looking at my bone and not once did I cry…then get me to the hospital and I throw a hissy fit when the doctors try to wheel me into an elevator haha

  30. Mahea Says:

I second the Hawaii thing. If that happens, I’m so there!

  31. Bianca Says:

OMG I HATE BIRDS TOO!!!! They scare the crap out of me. And like you, I don’t know why. But yes birds = phobia. btw, loving the music πŸ™‚
