Song on July 17, 2011 “Burn It Down”

BURN IT DOWN

Got a place

And I settled in

Found a man

Who was everything

Everything I wanted

Everything I wanted

Everything I

Caught that liar in his tracks

And I said some things I can never take back

Wouldn’t if I could

Wouldn’t if I could

I wouldn’t if I could

One more ride around this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

One more night inside this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

Burn it down

Burn it down

Thought I finally found some friends

Til I felt the knife break through the skin

I wondered if I could

Ever forgive

Oh I wondered

If I could

High and dry in the middle of the night

Nothing to show in the middle of my life

I’d die if I could

Die if I could

Die if I could

One more ride around this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

One more night inside this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

Burn it down

Burn it down

I’ll drive away and I’ll never look back

I’ll drive away and I’ll never look back

I’ll drive away and I’ll never look back

One more ride around this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

One more night inside this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

Burn it down

Burn it down

One more cry inside this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

One more lie inside this town

I think I’m gonna burn it down

Burn it down

Burn it down

Dammit ladies … once again, you’ve made me tear up with such a freakin’ emotional song. This one is defintiely relatable at the moment. I loved the vocals on this — like others said, how it builds up and then just BAM! full force. Awesomeness.

Kate — Hope your ankle feels better soon! At least it was worth it, right?

Jill — Just saw y’all open for Graham in IL, but dayum you look fantastic! What’s the secret?

I LOVE this song. I’m so sad yall decided to take so many of your “Songs on the 17th” songs off youtube. I would LOVE if yall would consider a Songs on the 17th Vol. 2. (And this track is a MUST. This song got me through an amazingly difficult time in my life.) I can’t thank yall enough for putting your music out there. As a songwriter myself, your music has been a huge inspiration for me. God Bless!
